Wendy Emerson Named UNCSA Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration

UNCSA Chair Brian Cole hWendy Emerson was announced as Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration.her appointment was approvedEdited on 7 April by the UNCSA Board.

Emerson will serve as Interim Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration from August 2022. Previously he was at UNCSA where he has been Vice Chancellor since May 2020. With Emerson’s new appointment, the university will search for its next Vice President of Finance.

As Vice President, Emerson will be responsible for overseeing the financial services sector, including budgeting, financial systems, purchasing and ancillary services, and the Office of Audit. She also oversees facilities management, information technology (IT), and police and public safety departments.

Prior to UNCSA, he spent 12 years as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of Business Services and 2 years as Dean of Financial Services at Forsyth Technical Community College. Prior to joining Forsyth Tech, he worked for Winston, North Carolina at the State Comptroller’s Office in Salem where he worked for ten years as an Assistant State Comptroller, state universities and communities. Conducted public financial management audits.

Emerson was recently accepted into the UNC Executive Leadership Institute program and will be a member of the 2023-24 cohort. Other honors include: In 2011 she was nominated for Triad Business Journal’s CFO of the Year. From 2009 until 2010 she was a member of the leadership of Winston-Salem. From 2010 to 2011 she was a member of the Center for Creative Leadership Program.

Emerson holds a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Appalachian State University in Boone.
