The Riverton City Council will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 5 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers of Riverton City Hall (816 N. Federation Blvd.).

The agenda will include the introduction and oath of office of the new Director of Administrative Services, Mia Harris, who previously served as the City Finance Director.

At its regular meeting on June 20, the city council extended Mr. Harris’ contract as Director of Administrative Services, noting that the new positions would serve as ex-officio City Treasurer and ex-officio City Clerk.

Former Riverton city employee Christine Watson left her job for “new and exciting opportunities with Converse County,” city administrator Kyle Butterfield said at a June 20 conference, citing Watson’s praised its “strong” reputation.

“A lot of people respect and recognize what Christine has done,” Butterfield said. “In addition to my family, I have colleagues and friends who recognize how precious Kristin is.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Christine for the past 13 years in this city,” commented other senior staff members, including Harris.

“Kristin has always represented the city with nothing but professionalism and grace,” Harris said. “(You) need to wear some big shoes.”

Wednesday’s agenda also includes hearings and consideration of the Riverton Rendezvous Commission’s fireworks permits for July 15.

Riverton Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jake Blumenshain has written a letter in support of a fireworks display at Jaycee Park.

Next, Congress will consider an Article 3 ordinance that would raise the age limit for tobacco and e-cigarette products from 18 to 21, in line with federal and state law.

Another ordinance the city council will consider at its second reading on Wednesday is to “clarify the language” of city ordinances related to clerical and treasurer jobs.

Another public hearing will be held before the city council considers a forward-looking ordinance for the Riverview Cove rezoning.

A staff memo said the rezoning would address “clerical errors.”

Wednesday’s agenda also includes:
-Consultant agreement with Jviation for Central Wyoming Regional Airport Master Plan
– EDGE funding deals with Brown Sugar, Golden Buffalo, Riverton Ice Hockey and Wild Mushroom
– Tender winning of dump trucks with plows and other accessories
– A resolution specifying the authorized signatories of the bank account

Prior to Wednesday’s meeting, the Finance Committee will meet at the same location at 6:45 p.m.

Both meetings are open for direct participation and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where recordings of past meetings are archived.
