Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, died in January at the age of 54, the results of her toxicology report were released.
A toxicology report found that Lisa Marie Presley was ingesting opioids and other drugs at the time of her death.
The singer-songwriter, who died in January at age 54, had “therapeutic levels” of oxycodone and a second opioid known as buprenorphine in her blood.
Buprenorphine is sometimes prescribed for pain relief and is also used to treat opioid addiction. A toxicology report also showed traces of the antipsychotic quetiapine in her system.
A coroner confirmed no drugs were found in Lisa Marie’s home when she was rushed to hospital in January after being given CPR by paramedics at her home. At the time, it was reported that she was in possible cardiac arrest.
A toxicology report obtained by TMZ was released shortly after confirming her cause of death was a small bowel obstruction.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s report states that the exact symptoms are the sequelae of a small bowel obstruction. An autopsy stated that the opioids in her system did not contribute to her death.
According to the autopsy, “the obstruction was in the form of a strangulated small intestine caused by adhesions that had occurred after bariatric surgery many years earlier. This is a known long-term complication of this type of surgery.”
After Lisa Marie’s death, her family became embroiled in a toxic squabble over her property.
The two have now reached a settlement, with mother Priscilla Presley saying she is “proud” that Elvis Presley and granddaughter Riley Keough have earned Lisa Marie’s trust and reconciled.
According to People magazine, once the deal is reached, Riley will pay Priscilla a one-time payment equivalent to $1 million (£76,000), plus $400,000 (£305,000) in legal costs.
The legal issues have been fully resolved and the two are reportedly on good terms now.
Riley recently paid tribute to her mother and late brother Benjamin Keough after receiving her first Emmy nomination.
The 34-year-old shared a nostalgic snap on Instagram of her brother hugging Lisa Marie. “I miss you both,” she wrote, accompanied by a red heart emoji. Benjamin died by suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.
