Texarkana, Texas — The Pleasant Grove Independent School District welcomes a new manager of financial operations.
Jennifer Gibson was named Treasurer at the Board of Trustees’ regular meeting on Thursday. She will start her work on Monday.
“I am excited to take on this new challenge and bring my skills as a problem solver to the role of chief financial officer,” Gibson said. We want it to be distributed in a reasonable way.”
Gibson succeeds Derick Sibley, who has assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer of Grapevine Colleyville ISD. He will start on Monday.
Gibson has been with PGISD since 2014. Most recently, he was Director of Career and Technical Education, where he has been since 2018.
Prior to PGISD, Gibson spent five years as a business and finance teacher at Frisco ISD. He also has eight years of corporate finance experience at the Bank of America headquarters in Plano, Texas.
Superintendent Chad Pertle said Gibson “will continue to be a tremendous asset” to the district.
“Her experience in finance and education and her commitment to excellence are essential qualities for this role,” said Pirtle.
Gibson also has a long history of professional and community involvement. She is a member of her CTE Her Leadership Board at the Texas Department of Education. She is an advisor to the National Technical Honor Society. Continuing Education Instructor at Texarkana University. Co-Chair of the Dana Center at the University of Texas.
Gibson holds a Bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University, and is a licensed principal and teacher in Texas. She is married to Josh Gibson, the athletic director of her PGISD.
