After missing the last two seasons, Manti Teo has admitted his NFL career is over.

Theo was the subject of a Netflix documentary series Not Told: The Girlfriend Who Never Existed The film is about a catfish fishing incident while on a date with a woman he had never met, who allegedly died in a car accident on the same day his grandmother died in September 2012.
Deadspin’s Timothy Burke and Jack Dickie said in January 2013 that Theo’s girlfriend Renee Kekua didn’t exist and that she was real throughout her senior season at Notre Dame, saying that this He reported that he helped perpetuate the story.

Theo was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2013 draft. He played in the NFL for a total of eight seasons with three different teams. His most recent appearance was on January 10, 2021 with the Chicago Bears in an NFC Wild Card Playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Theo recorded 307 total tackles and 22 losing tackles in 62 career games.
