Seoul, April 19, 2023– Hyundai Motor and Asan Medical Center today celebrated the donation of Hyundai Motor’s medical wearable robot ‘X-ble MEX’ for patient support and joint research.
In March, Hyundai Motor signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Asan Medical Center and the Civil Safety Union. The deal establishes his two-year commitment to use two wearable robots to provide rehabilitation services to paraplegic patients and the company’s future mobility to conduct joint research using his devices. .

“X-ble MEX” is a wearable medical robot developed by Hyundai Robotics Lab to help rebuild the lower muscles and restore joint mobility. This wearable robot is especially beneficial for paraplegic patients, as it helps them with a variety of movements, such as walking on flat surfaces, climbing stairs, sitting, and standing.
South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has given approval for the robot to be used as a medical device, and it is now certified in the United States. Its power source, the battery, has also been tested and is safe for users.
“X-ble” is Hyundai Robotics Lab’s brand of medical and industrial wearable robots. The name is a combination of the letter ‘X’, which stands for the endless possibilities of robotic technology, and ‘able’, which stands for the ability to make anything possible. The launch of “X-ble MEX” is the first product in the lineup, and we plan to further expand the product range in the future.
Hyundai Motor also signed an MOU with South Korea’s National Rehabilitation Center this month. Partnerships with medical centers help determine the potential contribution of exoskeleton robots to medical rehabilitation.
