We have made some changes to Morningstar.com and you may have already noticed the first iteration of these improvements. Most of the changes we’ve made have been reflected in the publishing experience of our research analysts and editorial team, but we’ve outlined some of the features that we believe will benefit you and our millions of other readers.
We know change can be confusing for readers as they take the well-worn road to get to what’s important to them, but the features we’re releasing today will help you find what you already love. We believe it will make it easier for you to find new features and discover new content. Well, the new features are:
Morningstar.com has changed the way content is organized. Sections are Alternative Investments, Fixed Income, Economics, ETFs, Financial Advice, Funds, Markets, Personal Finance, Portfolios, Retirement, Stocks, and Sustainable Investing. We see this as an important first step, or foundation, to building a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate experience. Building on this foundation, we will build more detailed categories throughout the year. These 12 sections are just the foundation and will not change.
Navigation has been updated on Morningstar.com. The main navigation at the top of each page includes a number of new sections under each dropdown focused on investment ideas and core topics. An updated sidebar navigation provides more useful links to your favorite content, including paths to podcasts, videos, and email newsletters.
The new article template introduces a more modern design. Our authors are given new opportunities to better contextualize their stories, and charts and graphs look better across different devices. There is also more emphasis on authors, so readers can see the depth of expertise that informs our analysis and commentary.
Our take on the data-powered stock market
Dear readers, market hub. We built market updates powered by natural language processing and data to provide real-time insight and analysis on the stock market.
This means you will be able to see our view of what is happening in the market throughout the day. A rising sector and a declining sector. The Morningstar U.S. Market Index provides a bird’s-eye view of stock price movements.
“Today’s Stock Market” can be viewed during market hours and is updated every 5 minutes. It quickly became a staple daytime destination for me.
Updated Model Portfolio of Christine Benz
A big focus of the changes we are bringing to Morningstar.com is to better curate experiences on important topics for investors and financial advisors. To see where we’re headed, check out the revamped experience of Christine Benz’ popular model portfolio example.
This series of investment portfolio examples is a powerful reference for both retirees and savers to build their own portfolios. They are meant to help people visualize what their long-term investment portfolio looks like.
Insights for asset managers and fund families
Morningstar.com recently introduced a wealth management company hub. This new area aims to provide investors and financial advisors with data and analytics to help them evaluate company lineups, strategies, stock classes, flows, fees, historical performance and more before making investment decisions. I’m doing it.
We are always looking to improve Morningstar.com and welcome your feedback. We value your opinions and feedback. Please email us directly at editor-in-chief@Morningstar.com.
