Teofimo Lopez appears to have announced his retirement from boxing – just hours after reversing an astonishing world title.
The American shocked the world early Sunday morning when he overthrew WBO and Ring magazine super lightweight champion Josh Taylor.
Former unified lightweight champion Lopez looked like his old self when he scored a points win against the Scots in the theater at Madison Square Garden.
The 25-year-old, who has been boxing for the past year out of concern for his mental health, has hinted that he plans to leave the world of boxing after becoming a two-division champion.
And he seems to be sticking to his word, writing Instagram Next to a picture of myself as a child and my father, I wrote, “What a relief!
“I retired at the top. Thank you boxing for giving me and all my loved ones a wonderful life!”

Lopez’s 841,000 followers were quick to comment, with one commenting: “It was a great fight last night.
“You gave a great performance. You’ve had a great career. God bless you. Stay awake!”
